At The Mall
From their studios overlooking Falmouth Bay, Seasalt designs beautiful clothes, footwear and accessories that celebrate quality and simplicity. Part of a thriving local community of modern makers and craftspeople, their carefully considered collections have a fresh, contemporary feel inspired by the heritage of their home in Cornwall and a creative life by the sea.
Seasalt’s story began on a wet August day in 1981 when the Chadwick family went into a little shop in Adelaide Street, Penzance. They only wanted some waterproof coats, but ended up buying the premises as well. Those early days, when their customers were the fishermen, farmers, painters and potters of St Ives, continue to influence Seasalt’s products today.
Using the best materials and featuring imaginative prints produced by co-founder and senior print designer, Sophie Chadwick, and Seasalt’s small team of in-house artists and illustrators, the brand stay true to their roots selling wonderfully wearable clothes that are designed to be loved and stand the test of time.
Being a Cornish success story is something SeaSalt very proud of. Their headquarters are located in a design studio overlooking Falmouth Bay to St Anthony's lighthouse and every day they are inspired to design garments that speak about the place in which they live. The team includes a diverse range of talent, including graphic designers and fine artists, accountants and logistics experts, textile designers and pattern cutters.
SeaSalt's aim is to trade as responsibly as they can, this includes making their supply chains fair for everyone.
SeaSalt are proud to have been awarded the UK’s best Organic Retailer of the Year and in 2005 they became the first fashion company to have garments certified by the Soil Association and are now one of the largest producers of certified organic cotton in the world. In 2013 SeaSalt, again, were also the first ever fashion company to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.
