In a society obsessed with appearance, the way we think and feel about our bodies is fundamental to our health and wellbeing. That’s why BFW is proud to help promote positive body image and the acceptance of diversity in appearance.
Did you know that there’s a globally renowned Centre for Appearance Research (C.A.R.), right on The Mall’s doorstep at the University of the West of England?
Just 20 minutes away, C.A.R. experts are conducting world-leading research into appearance, disfigurement and body image.
They collaborate with charities, NHS Trusts, businesses, schools, universities, the media and policy makers in the UK and overseas to promote knowledge and understanding of the social, psychological and cultural impact of concerns about appearance. So we are absolutely delighted to have teamed up with them for Bristol Fashion Week.
On Thursday 5th and Friday 6th April, the CAR team will be upstairs in The Mall, sharing their message about the importance of diversity in fashion and appearance.
They will be asking you to share your ideas on what diversity in fashion means to you on their wall of difference.
They’ll also have C.A.R. podcast hosts on the Mall, hoping to get your views on the Fashion Show and #fashionforeveryone.
Do come and see them on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th April and help BFW support their great work.
