One of the key purchases for autumn has to be a pair of boots. Sandals are packed away and it’s almost too cold for loafers and slip-on styles now, so if you haven’t already invested in some winter footwear, here’s an edit of our favourite styles as inspired by the Bristol Fashion Week catwalk.
Over the knee boots can be quite intimidating to wear, but you can dress them down easily for daytime. Worn over skinny jeans, with an oversized slouchy jumper, they are versatile, comfortable and warm! They can also be dressed up for a vampy look; paired with a shift dress or even worn underneath a midi skirt to dial up the glamour factor.
Ankle boots are a must for every day, and there are some amazing styles on the high street at the moment. We saw leopard print boots on the Bristol Fashion Week catwalk and it’s still a big story; buy into the trend with this pair from New Look. For a more autumnal feel, jacquard fabrics, embroidery and tapestry take basic boot shapes to the next level and look as fabulous with dresses as they do with jeans and cropped trousers. There is also a huge choice when it comes to heel height. Low heels no longer mean frumpy; a block heel gives a height boost whilst also being comfortable enough to wear all day.

For a chic daytime look, reach for a flat boot, in the form of a biker style or a Chelsea boot shape, they will be your go-to winter footwear choice. A classic black leather style is an obvious choice, making daily dressing easy, but don’t discount metallics; silver and gold are surprisingly neutral and will work with everything from denim to printed dresses. This silver pair would make a high fashion update to any outfit.
