Happy 10th Birthday to The Mall

On Monday 31st March, The Mall celebrated a decade of success when it reached its 10th birthday.

Since opening on 31st March 1998, The Mall has attracted more than 135 million shoppers and taken £4 billion in sales. It has changed the face of retailing in the South West, acting as a catalyst for retail investment across the region. We are very proud of what we've achieved.

With 10 successful years under our belt, we are now looking forward to the next decade. Our focus remains clear - to offer you a stylish, convenient and safe place to come shopping and some of the very best brand names in British retailing.

You'll notice some changes at The Mall over the next few months. Look out for the arrival of new stores including Phase Eight, a contemporary new eating area called The Avenue and a multi-million pound refurbishment in John Lewis.

In the autumn, we'll see the return of our hugely popular Fashion Week with Mark Heyes and our Winter Wonderland with its outdoor ice rink and Santa's Castle.

Mum of two Marie Davies from Chepstow was the fabulous winner of our online competition to be a model for a day at Forever Fashionable, our nine-day festival of Spring fashion to mark The Mall's 10th birthday.

Marie, aged 36, was the first entry from over a hundred to be picked out of the hat.

NEW LOOK EATING AREA ON THE MENU  

Work will begin in March to redevelop The Mall's Food Court into a stylish new eating area called The Avenue. Opening in two phases in October 2008 and Spring 2009, The Avenue will offer shoppers a combination of contemporary restaurants and casual dining in an attractive and relaxing setting.

The Avenue will feature 10 restaurants, each with its own seating area flanking a central avenue.

The Food Court has served The Mall well over the past 10 years but The Mall now wants to bring in successful modern restaurant concepts which reflect the more sophisticated tastes of today's shoppers.
