MARK HEYES MARCH STYLE EDIT

With Bristol Fashion Week starting next week we asked Mark Heyes, top TV fashion stylist and co-host of Bristol Fashion Week, to share his top looks for this spring/summer.

1970s

Definitely not an excuse to wear it all again! The spirit of the '70s pervades: floppy hats, big sunglasses, skinny flairs, wedges, big hair and head scarves. Think Farrah Fawcett and Charlie's Angels!

French Connection Lace Tulle Dress £165
Jules Tan Platforms £135,
Hat £32

White Heat

Fresh, summery, simple and elegant. Whether it's a classic white shirt, beautifully cut jacket or wide - legged trousers. Look for clean lines and simple tailoring.

Oasis Suit jacket £85
Trousers £60
Brown silk shirt £45

Long

Maxi dresses and wide trousers are key looks for spring/summer - long flowing and floaty!

M&S Navajo Chic Jacket £225 (available April)
Trousers £49.50 (available June)
Shoes £55.00

Prints

Patterned prints dominated the designer catwalks for this season. From large and painterly to small and ditsy, from florals to animal prints. Just remember the bigger you are, the smaller the print should be!

John Lewis Silk daisy print jumpsuit £150
Celia Birtwell for John Lewis

Colour Blocking

Colour blocking is one of the strongest and easiest looks to pull off this summer. Bright colours can be worn head - to - toe or bold and clashing. Wear one vibrant colour, or mix and match two or three bold jewel tones. Look out for emerald green, bright pink, strong reds and acid yellows. Don't be shy it's all about maximum wow factor! Try brightly coloured accessories if this look is too much for you.

River Island Paris blazer
Electric blue Mischa top £29.99
Violet harem trousers £29.99
Mustard SW courts £64.99

Tangerine

Tangerine one of the hottest colours this season! Tangerine and other shades of orange worn head to toe, or as an accent colour. Looks great with a tan!

Next Heart print dress £40

Natural nudes

As an alternative to the season's brights, check out the lovely soft nude shades. Soft tulle, lace and florals in muted tones all combine to create an elegant, understated feel . Stay pale and interesting this summer.

Monsoon Nixie chiffon sleeveless embellished dress £150

Blues

From deep ocean blue to turquoise - blue is a good colour option for more formal occasions. Blue is also the colour of denim which goes beyond jeans to tailored jackets, dresses, shirts and pinafores.

New Look Blue print top with collar £19.99
Denim trench coat £39.99
Blue Capri pants £17.99
Stripe peep toe wedges £24.99

All products subject to availability.
